Curacao is the generic term for orange liqueurs produced from the peel of a bitter variety of Sevile oranges. This variety of orange grew predominantly on the west indian islland of Curacao, but is now mainly grown in Tahiti. To extract the oil from the peel, it is treated with spirits: armagnoc, or cognac.
