Dear Loyal Reader,
October. Halloween and fun times. We'll change the newsletter a little more this month, I hope you like it. Speaking of Halloween, I've chosen to put all of this month's Halloween cocktails on the site. I'll be adding more in the next week or so. Check out this page throughout the month.
Please be smart, don't drink and drive! Enjoy the following recipes in moderation and take a cab if you need one. Cheers! Dan Hutchinson
This month brings us another great interview of a guy who has done it all, well at least most of it. Get the facts on Bobby "G" Gleason - Master Mixologist for Beam Global Spirits & Wine...
Over the last month I have been trying this drink out at various restaurants and bars in my local area, and I think it is time to debut my newest project, The Rainstorm. What has the Raven discovered? Read the full story here...
When you hear the word "Amazon," what's the first thing that comes to mind? A lush, rainforest environment? Fierce and beautiful warrior women? That place on the web that used to have just books and CDs, but now sells, well, everything? I always think of piranhas. I guess it's because at an impressionable age I got hit with a whole load of spurious information regarding these guys. I remember learning about the Amazon river in elementary school geography, and like most kids, I promptly forgot everything about it except that it was home to MEAT-EATING FISH. Get the rest of the story and a great recipe here... I'd like to congratulate the good Doctor on his 1st anniversary here at Bar None. We all look forward to many more years of great writing!

The Glenlivet Nadurra Triumph 1991 joins the range of nadurra (Gaelic for natural ) whiskies that is testament to the innovation and craftsmanship in distilling which continues to define malt whisky to the world. The new offering was distilled and casked in Speyside in 1991. Aged a full two years longer than the first Nadurra incarnation, a 16-year-old cask strength, The Glenlivet Nadurra Triumph 1991 offers a greater flavor imparted from the wood. The additional resting time, a broader selection of casks and the use of Triumph barley provides a layer of complexity that is mildly sweeter and more fruit-forward than its counterpart. All of the elements of the offering are perfectly balanced, a trademark of the family of whiskies, and another example of why The Glenlivet s portfolio is the benchmark by which other single malts are judged. Keeping in line with this range of whiskies, the Nadurra Triumph 1991 is non-chill filtered, which better retains its natural flavors, with additional richness and a creamy mouthfeel. The Nadurra 16-Year-Old Cask Strength expression has been one of the most well-received offerings in The Glenlivet s portfolio since its debut in 2006, says The Glenlivet U.S. Brand Director Ron Zussman. We wanted to create something new, while still incorporating the core elements that make our Nadurra whisky so special. The result is our first ever single-varietal scotch, Nadurra Triumph 1991, one we expect will be appreciated by both the whisky enthusiast and the whisky collector.

Nothing suits aromatic, freshly brewed coffee like fresh cream. As a nod to the art of java and to whet the appetites of coffee connoisseurs, Kahlua, the world s number one coffee liqueur, introduces Kahlua Coffee Cream. This limited-edition premium coffee liqueur combines Kahlua, which is made from handpicked Arabica coffee beans, along with fresh, natural cream; a simple yet bold way to add a little indulgence to the coffee-drinking experience. This new release is a natural extension of Kahlua's line of coffee liqueurs, all of which are made with 100 percent Arabica beans. The coffee beans are shade-grown and handpicked in the Vera Cruz region of Mexico. Locally sourced ingredients, including Mexican vanilla and cane rum, are key components in creating Kahlúa s unique flavor. The rich cream adds another dimension to the liqueur, enhancing Kahlúa s signature notes of vanilla, caramel and hints of dark chocolate. Kahlua has long been considered the go-to choice for coffee liqueurs and we couldn't think of a more natural fit for the Kahlua family than a cream-based liqueur, says Andy Nash, Brand Director for Kahlua. Staying true to our reputation for authenticity, we wanted to provide those who know and love Kahlua with something unique yet indulgent and we think Kahlua Coffee Cream is just that. Kahlua Coffee Cream will be available nationwide October through December. Kahlua Coffee Cream is not only delicious in coffee, served neat or on the rocks, but also in cocktails. The recipe below was created by New York City-based mixologist Julio De Los Santos.

Halloween also provides me with an opportunity to speak to you about a topic that I have been saving for quite some time: Drinking Games. Halloween is the perfect time to mix up the means in which you imbibe. I like a particular variation of Beer Pong, called Battle-Sip...
