Here's our favorite Manhattan recipe - wondering what other personal favorites anyone else has?

Susan's Smooth Manhattan

  • 4 parts Southern Comfort
  • 1 part Dry Vermouth
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

toastmaster,

Good thread idea.  I'll go with a sweet version, based on a recipe found in Duffy's "Official Mixer's Manual".

Manhattan Cocktail (Sweet)
  • 2 parts Whiskey (I used Crown Royal)
  • 1 Part Italian Vermouth
  • 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 Dashes Gum Syrup (Didn't have this so I used Simple Syrup)
  • Garnish with a cherry.

As per the instructions in the book, this was stirred with cracked ice, and strained.

I'm a fan of just:

3.5 oz Jack Daniel's
.5 oz Sweet Vermouth

Shake vigorously (I like ice chips) and strain into a stemmed cocktail (martini) glass with a cherry in the bottom of the glass.
