You may be familiar with beverages such as soda, fruit juice, teas, and coffees. But, you may not be aware of the various types of drinks that are not only an alternative, but also a wonderful substitute for beverages that contain alcohol.
A popular version is the mocktail. The name is derived from the words mock and cocktail. Mock means something that is an imitation or copy, while a cocktail is known for being a refreshing and tasty mixed drink.
Also referred to as a virgin cocktail, a mocktail is often a version of a popular cocktail, such as a pina colada or a strawberry dacquiri. This type of drink is usually created by combining mixers and/or fruit juices.
Tropical drinks are also a great alternative to an alcoholic beverage. Much like a mocktail, tropical drinks are created using mixers and/or fruit juices. They are given their name because the flavors used to create the drink often remind the drinker of a tropical setting.
Also similar to tropical drinks are smoothies. These are thicker versions of a tropical drink, often created with the same ingredients.
If you like to enjoy a drink now and then, but donít want the effects or calories that an alcoholic drink can deliver, then you may want to consider a healthy, non-alcoholic beverage to satisfy your thirst.
